Physical port names are derived based on their port no and their parent slot number. As a result one of the functions of the DSE will be to update these port names each it runs as ConnectMaster currently cannot automatically name ports based on slot structure.

Two types of ports are considered in this case:

•Direct Ports – These ports are directly on the Daughter Cards

•SFP Ports - Each SFP card has one SFP Port

Direct Ports

Port Name = Slot Name/n. ie 1/3/1

•Where Slot Name Typically is 1/3, 1/5, etc.

•n = Port Number

SFP Card/Ports

SFP cards sit at component level 3, ports will be renamed using the parent’s card slot name and the SFP slot name. ie A parent daughter card in slot 1/3 with a SFP card in sub-slot 5 will have a port named 1/3/5

LAG Ports

LAG ports are created as a virtual sub port in ConnectMaster. Card type model has to have a Virtual Groupping port called “LAG”. The virtual sub ports are created under this LAG goupping  port.
