Possible files conversion

System supports following files conversion:

i.MapInfo TAB files to ESRI shape files

ii.ESRI shapefile to MapInfo TAB files

MapInfo TAB files to ESRI shape files

Step 1

User selects a MapInfo TAB layer in the “Layers” panel.

Step 2

From the GEO toolbar: Workspace à Import/Export Shp Table à Save MapInfo Table as SHP Table

Step 3

File menu appears, user selects the desired directory, create the filename and ends by clicking “Save”.

System automatically extends the filename with extension “_Point”, “_Polyline” or “_Polygon” depending on the kind of geometry.

For example, a tab layer, Area.tab, contains two geometry kinds; point and polygon. Successful conversion to shapefile, system creates two files; Area_Point.shp and Area_Polygon.shp

ESRI shapefile to MapInfo TAB files

Step 1

User selects a shapefile layer in the “Layers” panel.

Step 2

From the GEO toolbar: Workspace à Import/Export Shp Table à Save SHP Table as MapInfo Table

Step 3

File menu appears, user selects the desired directory, create the filename and ends by clicking “Save”.
