An IP address and/or a VLANs can be assigned to a:

•Multiplexer (e. g. loopback address)

•Card

•Physical Port

•Virtual Port

By using Virtual-Sub-Ports it is possible to assign more IP- and VLAN-networks to a single Physical Port in accordance to the capabilities of L2- and L3 routers/switches.
