Split cable, insert junctions

Definition

In this action, a cable is split, resulting in 1 new cable and two new components of the category “Series terminal” or “Strip/Panel”, which are placed between the two (old and new) cable.

Split cable segments

If the original cable is subdivided into several cable segments, these are allocated to the two cables, where 2 options are possible:

The location of the junction is identical to the end location of a cable segment.
In this case, the segments are allocated to the original cable up to the junction location. The following are allocated to the new cable.

The location of the junction is not identical to the end location of a cable segment.
In this case, the user must indicate a length where the division will be carried out. This helps calculate which segment is to be divided. The allocation is then performed as described above.

Left / Right

This information in the workflow “Split cable, insert junction” indicates where the new cable is located in the newly created structure.

Junction

The new components of the category “Series terminal” or “Strip/Panel” must have at least the dimension of the cable.  Existing components without cross-connections can also be selected.

New cable

The new cable receives the same component type as the original cable.

Cross-connections

The original cable is connected 1:1 with the first component (left) and the new cable is connected 1:1 with the second component (right).

Both components are patched to each other 1:1 on the right.

Cross-connections remain unchanged at the cable ends; however, they belong to different cables as new connections.

Options

Several options are available for the interconnection of the two components.
