Equippable components

Elements

Components of the category “Network element”, “Card/Module”, “Container/Cabinet”, “Shaft” and “Duct/Route” have no connection points themselves; rather, they in turn contain components that can be inserted into Slots/Ducts divided into Rows/Segments on up to 2 levels. These components are then referred to as elements.

Dimension

The number of Slots/Ducts, Rows/Segments and Levels is specified by the component type and can no longer be changed at component level.  Only the slot/duct names can be modified on the components.

Equipment rules & generation template

For “Network element”, “Card/Module”, “Container/Cabinet”, “Shaft” and “Duct/Route”, equipment rules can be created at component type level, which prescribe which components may be inserted into which component types.

Furthermore, an automatic equipment template may also have been defined here.  Thus elements are automatically created when creating a new component. Please refer to Chapter “Component types”.

Static

When a equippable component type is defined as static, the components contained in it are generated in specific positions within the container as defined by a generation template. With these components, only the name can be changed; they can neither be removed from the container nor their position changed.

Non-static

The following actions can be performed on non-static “Network element”, Card/Module, Container/Cabinet, “Shaft” and “Duct/Route”:

Action

Create and insert element: A new component is created in the location of the “Network element”, “Card/Module”, “Container/Cabinet”, “Shaft” or “Duct/Route” and inserted into the selected Slots/Ducts.

Insert existing element: An already existing component can be selected from the same location as the “Network element”, “Card/Module”, “Container/Cabinet”, “Shaft” or “Duct/Route” and be inserted into the Slots/Ducts.

Insert element from the clipboard: A component copied to the clipboard is inserted as an element into the selected Slots/Ducts.

Move element: An element can be moved to free Slots/Ducts within the “Network element”, “Card/Module”, “Container/Cabinet”, “Shaft” or “Duct/Route”.

Remove element: An element is extracted and continues to exist as a standalone component.

Move element onto the clipboard: An element is removed and copied to the clipboard. If no further action occurs, it can be found in the location as a standalone element.

Delete element: An element is removed and deleted as a component.
