“Show excess cable length”

Description

In this example it´s explained step by step how a user could understand in which locations and shafts are stored the “excess cable length”.

Procedure

Step 1

Open the detail view of a physical path and click on “OTDR” tab.

Step 2

Input the measured fault position in meters where the failure has been located by the OTDR device.

Next to the OTDR value the sheath number of the affected cable at the fault position is displayed.

Please note the in physical path´s table the row corresponding to the failure is highlighted and in the column „Sheath“ now is possible to read the distance between the failure point and the next manhole , where a cable excess length is available:

2337 / 1007

Where 2337m ist the distance between the failure point and the manhole location containg cable excess length upstream

And 1007m  ist the distance between the failure point and the manhole location containing cable excess length downstream

 

Step 3

Click on the symbol 676F_E~2_img17 in order to display the failure point on the map together with the position of the location where cable excess length is stored:

Detail 1

In detail 1 under “From” and “To“ are shown the next locations where there are manholes  containing excess cable length, and a further information about the contained excess length is given.

Detail 2

Hitting the Button 676F_E~2_img22 “show excess length” shows on the map next to the found nearest locations with excess lenght the location name, assigned end component of the cable an excess length.

Right-clicking on the manhole in detail 1 and opening its detail view, in the tab “content” the excess length is mentioned again:
