Description

Location is unique position

A location is a unique position defined within the network administered by ConnectMaster.

Location group

A location group contains any number of locations. A location may be a type of one or several location groups.

Location systems

To ensure this unique characteristic and to illustrate as many types of location names as possible, ConnectMaster allows many different location systems:

A location system is a specific way of characterising and managing locations. It specifies the hierarchy and semantics of characterisation.

Location levels

Within the location system, there are different levels that meet the positioning accuracy requirements:

A location level is a level within the unique identification of a location.

Full name of location

The specific location discussed in the example results from the sequence of individual specific values in the levels:

“Linz - ABC – Distributing centre – 1st floor – B101”

This is referred to as the full name of the location.

Within this location system, any number of locations can be defined as above. It is also possible to determine locations that do not require all 7 levels:

“Linz”

“Wels”

“Wels - ABC – Distributing centre”

“Wels – MAN – Warehouse – Ground floor – Room1”

However, it is not possible to “exclude” a level. In this case, the value of the level remains “empty”:

“Wels – MAN – Warehouse –  – Room1”

Looking at the last examples, it is easy to see that ConnectMaster uses a hierarchical identification system to manage the locations.

Location structure

The location structure resulting from this hierarchy is also called network. It has a tree-like structure:
