In ConnectMaster, different types of networks can be graphically represented. Users can set how a network is represented in a Visio drawing in the network defaults.

Type

Description

Component group/Location network

Representation of the Route search Cable and/or Duct

Component line

Representation of cable route

Component line/Switch

Representation of the Route search Logics

Single

The representation of individual elements of ConnectMaster in Visio corresponds to the ConnectMaster function “Create network symbol” (e.g. in the Quick View of an element).

Fiber plan

The graphic representation of a fibre diagram.

Cable segments

Connection network of cables includes all segment locations and ducts

Network Logic/MUX

The graphic representation of the “Logical Network” network overview with MUX as knots.

Network Logic/Location

The graphic representation of the “Logical Network” network overview with location as knots.

Parallel phys. paths

Graphic representation of the filter result “Parallel Phys. paths“.

PON Network

The graphic representation of a PON.

Port <-> Port

The graphic representation of a port-to-port connection.

Routing network

The graphic representation of a routing network.

Routing table

The graphic representation of a routing table.

Splice plan

The graphic representation of a splice diagram.

Connection network/Cables

The graphic representation of the network with all cables.

Connection networking/Change of location

The graphic representation of the network in which all changes of location are represented.

Way search cables (Location)

The graphic representation of the “Cable routing” network operation only end locations of the cables.

Way search cables (Containers)

The graphic representation of the “Cable routing” network operation only end locations of the cables but incl. end containers

Way search ducts

The graphic representation of the “ducts way search” network operation.

Way search phys. paths

The graphic representation of the “Phys. paths” network operation.

Layout Settings

Depending on the network, the following settings are available:

Type

Description

New drawing

The network is drawn in a newly created Visio document or an already opened document of the same type which is also upgrade with new objects

Automatic allocation of new symbols

The selection window of the appertaining ConnectMaster element opens automatically when creating a ConnectMaster shape in Visio.

Automatic arrangement of the new symbols by Visio

After creating the drawing, ConnectMaster automatically executes the Visio action Optimise shape layout…

If this is deactivated other layout algorithms are available:

Matrix

Arrange the shapes in a matrix form and thereby uses the set values in horizontal / vertical distance

Geo-Schematic

Places the shapes according to their true coordinates, thereby there are different options:

None
Overlapping is possible

Keep alignment
Shapes are arranged by Visio using distance optimization, overlapping is avoided.

Keep  spaces
Shapes are arranged by Vision using alignment  optimization, overlapping is avoided

Keep spaces and  alignment
Mix of the two methods above

Symmetrical Layout
Connected objects are arranged with smaller distances compared to non-connected objects

MDS (Multidimensional Scaling)
The objects are arranged spatially in the way that the objects in space represent the ascertained similarities and differences as exact as possible.

Layered Graph Layout
Emphasises a flow or main direction

Sugiyama
Similar to the layered layout but the emphasis lies in the direction of a tree diagram

Transfer data to symbols automatically

The data transfer from ConnectMaster to Visio is performed automatically when creating a ConnectMaster shape.

Use category-specific symbols for components

The category-specific shapes (cable shape,...) are used in Visio drawings created by ConnectMaster; otherwise only the general component shape is used.

Set new symbols onto CM layer

All new ConnectMaster shapes are automatically placed on their defined ConnectMaster layer.

Use existing symbols.

Relevant shapes that are already available on the drawing sheet are then reused.

Use existing connections.

Relevant connections that are already available on the drawing sheet are then reused.

Substitute the text of existing symbols.

In all already existing shapes in the Visio drawing, the shape text is replaced with the data defined in the shape settings.

Group parallel connections

If several parallel connections exist, they are represented in a connector group.

Use defined allocations CM-Elements->Symbols

Depending on defined drawing types, the graphic representation of components is based on component type-related shapes.

Equip new symbols

Automatic equipment of newly created symbols (if possible)
