The ‘Backplane Cards Representation’ enhancement is to enable the documentation of specific logical circuits in multiplexer, where the Physical-Ports are located on an I/O-Card and the control of this ports is located on a separated I/O-Control-Card, where the respective Transport-Containers terminate logically. These two cards work together, the Control cards provide the logic of the services and the I/O cards provide the physical interface.

The basis for the solution is the use of specific virtual ports called ‘Virtual Pre-Connect Ports [VPP]’ to be generated at the control-card.

A VPP can have a 1: 1 relation to a physical port at other cards (I/O cards). Whenever a certain relation VPP – PP is established, in the background a pre-connection also is established automatically between this these 2 ports.

This mechanism can be applied on component level, but also at component-type level.
